Golden Triangle in 5 Days: The Perfect First-Timer Plan

✍️ Team EZPZ Tour⏱ 9 min read📍 Delhi NCR

The Golden Triangle — Delhi, Agra and Jaipur — is India's most popular first trip, and for good reason: three cities, three eras of history, and some of the most photographed monuments on earth, all within a comfortable drive of each other. Here's how to do it in five unhurried days.

Why five days?

You can rush the triangle in three days, but you'll spend most of them in the car. Five days gives each city a proper look, a sunrise Taj visit without stress, and time to actually enjoy Jaipur's forts and bazaars. It's the sweet spot for first-timers.

Day 1 — Delhi

Start with Old and New Delhi: Jama Masjid and a rickshaw ride through Chandni Chowk, Raj Ghat, then India Gate, Qutub Minar and Humayun's Tomb. It's a big day — an AC car and a local guide make it far easier.

Day 2 — Delhi to Agra

Drive down the Yamuna Expressway (3–4 hours) and spend the afternoon at Agra Fort. Save the Taj for sunrise tomorrow — it's worth the early alarm.

Day 3 — Agra to Jaipur (via Fatehpur Sikri)

Sunrise at the Taj Mahal is the highlight of the whole trip — go at opening to beat both the crowds and the haze. After breakfast, drive to Jaipur, stopping at the red-sandstone ghost city of Fatehpur Sikri on the way.

Taj tip: The Taj is closed every Friday. Build your itinerary so your Agra morning never lands on a Friday — a mistake we see travellers make all the time.

Day 4 — Jaipur

The Pink City in full: Amber Fort in the morning (go early), then City Palace, Jantar Mantar and a photo stop at Hawa Mahal. Evening is for Johari and Bapu bazaars — Jaipur is one of India's best shopping cities.

Day 5 — Jaipur to Delhi

A relaxed morning — Albert Hall or Nahargarh Fort views — then the 5–6 hour drive back to Delhi, dropping you at the airport or station by evening.

What it costs

A comfortable 5-day Golden Triangle with 3-star stays, daily breakfast, an AC car and driver, and transfers typically starts around ₹18,999 per person. Step up to 4-star or 5-star heritage hotels and the price scales with the stay — see the exact tiers and hotels on our Golden Triangle package page.

Want to go further?

Loved the heritage? Extend from Jaipur into full Rajasthan — Udaipur's lakes, Jodhpur's blue city and Jaisalmer's desert are the natural next chapter.
